TOPWAY® BOX / CUSTOM CONTAINERS
Hazardous Area Enclosures
TOPWAY® BOX can support hazardous area enclosure projects with container structure, equipment bases, doors and openings, service penetrations and grounding interfaces.
The equipment arrangement and documented hazardous-area conditions guide the enclosure brief. Specialist protection systems and any certification scope must be coordinated and agreed separately for the intended assembly.

Start with the Application and Area Conditions
This page addresses container-scale equipment shelters. A request for a small electrical junction box or instrument housing needs a different product specification. The enclosure name alone does not define its permitted use.
- Identify the equipment and process installed inside the shelter.
- Provide the project’s documented hazardous-area conditions and the requirements specified by the responsible engineer.
- Describe whether the potential hazard is inside, outside or associated with a connected process.
- Identify the intended destination and required technical documentation.

Equipment-Shelter Applications
The project brief may concern electrical or control equipment, process equipment or analytical instruments in a hazardous environment. The enclosure arrangement follows the equipment and the protection approach selected by the responsible project specialists. A generic shelter layout does not establish suitability for a particular area.

Structure and Access for Review
The structural brief can draw on TOPWAY® BOX capabilities in custom dimensions, base-frame design, reinforced openings and equipment access planning. The suitability of any resulting arrangement depends on the project-specific protection approach.
- Equipment footprint, weight and mounting points.
- Maintenance clearances, door locations and removal routes.
- Cable, piping and ventilation penetrations to be coordinated with the responsible system designer.
- Lifting, transport and unloading conditions for the proposed completed assembly.

Coordinate the Protection Approach
Electrical equipment, ventilation, monitoring and other protective systems must be specified as part of a coordinated design. Any proposed feature should identify its purpose, design responsibility and verification requirements.
If certification or third-party assessment is required, agree the exact product, configuration and scope to which it applies before placing an order. A certificate for an individual component does not establish certification of the complete shelter.

Define the Enclosure Supply Boundary
A proposal must separate structural enclosure work from specialist protection-system design, electrical installation, equipment selection, site integration and assessment of the complete assembly.
TOPWAY® BOX does not state ATEX, IECEx or CE certification for this product on this page. No explosion-resistance, pressure-containment or whole-container explosion-proof performance is specified. Any such requirement needs its own technical evidence and explicitly agreed scope.
Hazardous Area Enclosures FAQ
Is a hazardous area enclosure automatically an explosion-proof container?
No. The terms require a defined technical context. Any use of “explosion proof containers” must be supported by the applicable protection approach, configuration and verified scope.
Does this page confirm ATEX or IECEx certification?
No. Project-specific requirements and any applicable documentation must be established and verified before such a claim can be made.
Can certified components establish certification for the whole container?
Component documentation applies to its stated scope. It should not be presented as evidence of whole-container certification.
Can you review a custom equipment-shelter layout?
Submit the equipment arrangement, area conditions and protection requirements. The first step is to clarify the structural scope and which specialist design responsibilities must be assigned.
Are protection-system equipment and commissioning included?
Only items expressly listed in the agreed quotation are included. Specialist systems, certification activities and site commissioning require a separately defined scope.
