CUSTOM DIMENSIONS & STRUCTURES

Non-Standard & Custom Size Containers

When the required working space, opening arrangement or load distribution does not suit a conventional container, the structure needs to be planned around the project.

TOPWAY® BOX develops non-standard containers with custom dimensions, reinforced base frames and access openings coordinated with transport and lifting requirements.

Define the space before defining the shell

A custom length, width or height affects more than the outside dimensions. Start with the usable space required by the equipment or activity, then allow for the structure, lining, interfaces and access.

Length and bay arrangement

Coordinate equipment positions, separate working zones and door locations with the required overall length. Include removal routes for the largest replaceable item.

Width and maintenance clearance

Plan the clear space around equipment, internal partitions and service routes. Wide equipment containers also require early review of the delivery route and unloading area.

Height and overhead space

Allow for equipment height, mounting points, overhead services and any internal finish. Confirm the complete transport envelope, including external fittings.

Structural details that need a project-specific design

Base frame and local loads

Provide equipment weight, support positions and any concentrated loads. TOPWAY BOX can develop the base frame and local load-bearing structure around the agreed load information.

Large or multiple openings

Door and equipment openings are considered together with the surrounding frame. Reinforcement, door movement and installation clearances must be coordinated rather than added after the layout is fixed.

Heavy equipment foundations

Integrated equipment bases and supporting members can be included in the structural scope. Mounting locations, fixing details and equipment interface responsibilities are agreed for the project.

Lifting and securing

Lifting point and lifting method design are assessed against the intended handling arrangement. Confirm whether the enclosure will be handled empty or with equipment installed, together with weight and centre-of-gravity information.

Resolve transport limits early

A non-standard container may require a different transport arrangement from a conventional freight container. Review the route, vehicle or vessel interface, lifting equipment and site access before freezing the outside dimensions.

TOPWAY BOX can assess transport dimensions, securing methods and on-site unloading conditions as part of the design coordination. Route permissions, carrier acceptance and the final transport arrangement are confirmed for the destination and project. A container-shaped structure does not establish eligibility for standard container transport.

What can be included in the enclosure scope?

The project can cover dimensioning and structural design, fabricated steel structure, custom doors and openings, integrated equipment bases, surface treatment and assembly. Insulation, ventilation or air-conditioning interfaces, and electrical or piping provisions can be discussed where the intended use requires them.

The quotation should identify the supplied enclosure components, customer-supplied equipment and interfaces for others to complete. Transport, unloading, site foundations and final equipment installation need an expressly agreed scope.

Non-Standard & Custom Size Containers FAQ

Can you make a container wider than a standard shipping container?

Custom dimensions are part of TOPWAY BOX’s capabilities. Share the required internal width, equipment arrangement and transport route so the structure and delivery approach can be reviewed together. This page does not specify a universal maximum width.

Can the enclosure support heavy equipment?

Base-frame, local load-bearing and heavy equipment foundation design can be included. The design depends on equipment weight, support locations and handling conditions; a load capacity must be agreed for the specific enclosure.

How is a non-standard container different from an equipment container?

This product route starts with unusual dimensions or structural requirements. An equipment container starts with equipment installation and operation. A project can need both, with the dimension and load requirements coordinated in one design.

Can I use normal container lifting and transport methods?

That must be checked for the proposed design and loaded condition. External dimensions, fittings and appearance alone do not establish compatibility with a lifting system or transport service.
